Temperature Conversion Guide

Core Formulas
  • K = °C + 273.15
  • °F = (°C × 9/5) + 32
  • °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9
  • °C = K − 273.15
  • °F = (K − 273.15) × 9/5 + 32
  • K = (°F − 32) × 5/9 + 273.15

Tip: Kelvin starts at absolute zero (no negative K). Celsius and Fahrenheit can be negative.

Quick Examples
  • 0 °C → °F: (0 × 9/5) + 32 = 32 °F
  • 100 °C → °F: (100 × 9/5) + 32 = 212 °F
  • 25 °C → K: 25 + 273.15 = 298.15 K
  • 68 °F → °C: (68 − 32) × 5/9 = 20 °C
  • 300 K → °C: 300 − 273.15 = 26.85 °C

Mental math: °F ≈ °C × 2 + 30 (rough rule) — good for quick estimates.

When to use which scale
  • Celsius (°C): everyday weather & most countries (metric).
  • Fahrenheit (°F): everyday weather in the United States.
  • Kelvin (K): science & engineering (absolute scale, no degrees symbol).
